I had the joy of spending the afternoon with Mary Smouse and her daughter, Chris. We talked about their family honey farm, which I learned is also called an apiary. Mary, her husband Dave, and their family have over 40 years of beekeeping experience. It’s evident that beekeeping isn’t just a job for them, it’s a passion and an art.

There is something fun about randomly announcing that it’s time for a milkshake. The kids squeal with delight and clap their hands while at least one screams in an over exuberant show of excitement. My grandma and grandpa used to take us for a “just because” milkshake and I guess it must run in the blood. The best time for a milkshake is when you aren’t planning on having one!

With lots of charm and small town personality, this lovely gem of a store, located in Quincy, Washington is a fast favorite.
